If you've been in the right subcultures long enough you will have it in your head that self-improvement is your salvation.
You know to lift.
You know to save money.
You know to perform better at your job.
You even know what to do for each of these to achieve your end goals.
Eat x calories per day and y grams of protein.
Save x dollars a month.
Move x units a week.
Find the office app on your smartphone. Open Excel. Make a table for each of these. Track your progress.
When you have your goals written out and you actively track them you will be more likely to achieve them each day. You can see where you're lacking in certain areas (maybe you are at %40 calories by noon and it's time to take action) and you will be aware that there is a problem. Few people have the innate ability to fully track their progress in their head. Once you track and record it long enough you will develop that skill.
Before I made my tables I knew what I needed to do, but I didn't know how far my actual performance was from what I thought it was. When you create a benchmark and record your journey you are much more likely stay consistent with it.
