Somebody once told me the following anecdote with regards to beating competition. They told me it when I was applying for a highly sought after job however I think the analogy can be well applied to various other situations, for example getting laid. This applies especially well if you are the kind of person who sees a HB9 and thinks “She’s so hot, there’s no way a girl like that would have any interest in a guy like me.”

The story goes something like this:

Two backpackers were traversing through a jungle. They clear through some bushes when all of a sudden they are stood face to face with a ferocious lion. The lion eyes them up and is evidently ready to pounce at any moment. One of the men slowly pulls out some running shoes from his backpack and begins to ease them on to his feet. The other guy laughs and says, “You’ll never outrun a lion.” The other man looks at him and says, “I don’t need to outrun the lion; I just need to outrun you.”

Lessons Learned

When faced with a daunting challenge, remember that all you need to do is beat your competition.
Lift, dress well, do your reading, master game, hone your skills and explore your passions and you will be well on your way to winning the race (read: marathon).
