Respectfully, I totally disagree with your message.
A man's life's worth is not based on how many people attend their funeral. Full stop.

I think it was less about the funeral itself and more of a metaphor: about having a legacy, a purpose, a mission. And having a mission is a redpill cornerstone.

Would this be more in line with what you're saying?
Someone once told me the definition of Hell: The last day you have on earth, the person you became will meet the person you could have become.

I don't care who comes to my funeral because i'll be dead anyway. I don't think "Damn, I really did Jim a favor today, bastard better be at my funeral." Or, "Shit, I saved another person's life today, better tell Bill to slip that in my eulogy." You should be of value and make positive effects on the lives others because that's what men do.

What this post is attempting to do is provide a visualisation on your achievements in life. It isn't saying to do something so Bill or Jim show up and say nice shit at your funeral. It's saying to picture what they would say, what image you are putting across. Is that the image you want to project? Do you want the people in your life to see you like that? If not, change it. Become the legacy you want to leave behind.
It's just OP's way of visualising some personal goals that may or may not work for everyone.

Stephen Covey calls this “being with the end in mind”. It makes sense to think about what you will want to have achieved by the end of your life and then plan backwards from there. In fact, in general project planning, it often helps to start from the goal and work backwards to the present, so it makes sense that it would help in life planning as well.
In terms of the funeral, I have to agree with others here - I don’t give a damn what happens at my funeral, or if I even have one, because I’ll be gone - I’m fine being thrown in the ground and becoming tree/worm food. I’m sure that the people I’ve touched in my life will find their own way to mourn my death if they feel the need, and I certainly wouldn’t want anyone to feel obligated to attend my funeral.
If you’d like many people to come to your funeral, the best strategy is to become a celebrity. For example, they held Michael Jackson’s memorial service at the Los Angeles Staples Center and people had to buy tickets to attend. From Wikipedia:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Jackson_memorial_service
The memorial service was organized by Jackson's concert promoter, AEG Live, and AEG Ehrlich Ventures, LLC (Kenneth Ehrlich - Executive Producer),[5] who gave away 17,500 free tickets to fans worldwide through an online lottery that attracted over 1.2 million applicants in 24 hours,[6] and over a half-billion hits to the webpage.[7] An estimated 750,000[8] up to a million fans were expected to congregate outside Staples Center[9][10] but due to Los Angeles's $530 million budget crisis, city and police officials urged fans to stay home.[11] Street and highway exit around the Staples Center were sealed off,[11] and 3,000 officers, the largest security effort planned since the 1984 Olympics,[11] were on duty at a cost of $1.4 million to the city.[12] The motorcade for Jackson's casket was headed by two police motorcycle outriders, and the LA freeways were closed for the journey of approximately 11 miles (18 km) from Forest Lawn to the Staples Center.[13]

Very blue pill "I dont want to die alone" mentality.
[–]Movonnow 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, kind of the myth of the lonely old man.

Good for you, but most people I look up to died alone (Tesla, Turing).

my own death: don't care
others I went to: did care, closest friends only

Edgy and motivational, thankyou

Why the fuck would you want to get an awesome party-like, packed with friends funeral? You will be DEAD.
Life has no meaning. Every human (myself included) desire immortality, that's why we want a legacy, to put a mark onto our generation....but the next generation will die and whatever you will have done you will be forgotten. Churchill will be forgotten, De Gaulle too, Musachi too. Do anybody remember great men from 1 000 years ago?
Accept that you will die and that nothing will remain of you. Quit this nonsense of measuring yourself by how many friends you've got, how many people will miss you (for a few months/years).

Dude. I don't care about all this ego-thing, about how much other people respect me.
if you're the lone wolf who always put themselves first, dismissed everyone, etc., your funeral is going to be the staff of the funeral home and that's about it.
I don't have any problem with that.
understanding you are part of an ecosystem
I agree 100%
the kind of person who others want to pay respects to is not a bad thing
Depends on the people.

Can't help but think people are misunderstanding your post. I think the general point of the post here is to leave behind a legacy, or a mark on people.
I personally loved it.

Honestly, if i hold this "you only live once " mindset i'd end up self-indulgent since change brings desconfort and "we're all gonna die anyway".

I don't want a funeral. Everyone can fuck off and they can throw the body in an incinerator. Sitting around fantasizing about a dream funeral is more pointless than some hamster blubbering on about her dream wedding.
I recently carried my step father's coffin into the ground, and the entire thing was a bullshit, gynocentric cash grab. He wouldn't show up to that shit if he weren't dead, because sitting around entrenched in pity is for faggots.
I didn't even read your post, because every time someone talks about their funeral I know that they don't get it. If you are still basing your self esteem on what others are saying about you, you don't get it. My self esteem is not up for negotiation. I am in full possession of the way I feel about myself and I'll step on the neck of anyone that wants to make an issue of it.
