Why I avoid women's forums

u/kevin32, Should this be allowed? My vote is No. What do you think?

Agreed, OP broke rule 3 by posting a woman merely behaving badly with no essay or analysis about it. WATGMA is meant for men to write about their perspective on dating, commitment, and women's behavior in a way that addresses "Where are all the good men?" The purpose is to showcase a collection of writings that articulate the dating and social landscape from the male perspective, for critics to better understand why good men are avoiding commitment, and through which good men receive support and inspiration.
Merely posting a woman behaving badly with the title "This is why I avoid commitment" - along with most posts on MGTOW and WAATGM - is largely surface level in the scheme of things. This sub aims to go deeper than that.

FYI,
u/Aldabruzzo gets leeway in pretty much whatever he wants to post about as long as the topic is remotely relevant to the theme. We have a separate portion in the recommend list that is dedicated to some of his posts titled "Dating basics for men", which, strictly speaking, should be posted in the main sub or in trp.
That said, I want it collected here for better management and visibility in the future. I want the main sub to concentrate on real examples and this sub to concentrate on the theory/analysis. I think, apart from announcements, we should post all analysis/ commentary posts here and only cross post over to the main sub so that it is easier to chronicle and collect good posts in the sidebar here for future reference.
Edit: Adding edit to clarify that "we" in the above paragraph means the mods.
Edit 2: Provided more context in the second paragraph on why I would like the analysis posts confined here.

The op doesn't belong here.
It's a direct link to a woman's post.
The woman needs to call a hotline for suicide or self harm or a psychiatrist or I don't know and I certainly don't care.
It doesn't fit the theme, as you guys pointed out.
As for theory posts remaining here - yes and no. It really depends what the content is. Generally I agree with you that it should be here and crossposted, but some posts really belong on the main sub directly.
Like this one.

I would argue that the linked post is an announcement and I agree that posts like these need to be made in the main sub. I'm talking about everything else. We've had several earlier posts from Aldabruzzo lost (or difficult to find) because they were made in the main sub and because his account was deleted.

Not being able to find them probably had more to do with his account being deleted, no?
I myself forgot about a few of my really good theory posts until a mod linked them lol.

His deleted account complicated it. But, anything can get lost in the volume of the main sub. We've been encouraging people to improve certain comments and to post it in the child sub for a long time now. Since most don't do it, they get lost.
Edit: Corrected don't get lost to get lost.

I'm against crossposting posts with a female OP here for the same reasons it's against the rules in the main sub.
Given rules 3, 4, 5, and 6 of this sub, crossposts of any sort shouldn't even show up here anyway.
[–]moorekomMod 0 points1 point2 points (1 child) | Copy Link
You're right. This specific post does not belong in either sub in its current format. We don't allow cross posting here at all. If OP had written an analysis post on this, that is a different matter.
About cross posting from here to the main sub:
The cross posting thing will be for analysis posts from mods. The only other times we allow cross posting from this sub to the main one are:
That will be still in place.

There's an option in the subreddit settings to disable crossposts. It was initially meant to allow crossposts written by mods and Endorsed from the main sub, but isn't really needed now and I recommend unchecking.

This sub is designed to be solely for essays or written text. I don't see how simply cross posting some image (or even a screen grab of text) rises to the level of intelligent thought being put into it to convey an opinion or personal recollection. I am of the opinion that if there is a offsite item that needs to be included, then it can be inserted as a link. Other than that, it should be somebody typing up their thought(s).

Agreed.

Yeah, the OP isn't really relevant here, other than to identify a woman who clearly needs therapy.
Like you said, these are important: "articulate the dating and social landscape from the male perspective, for critics to better understand why good men are avoiding commitment," It just boggles my mind that women (and a lot of men) do not understand, or even care, about any of this at all.
