This is my story. I stopped picking up after my ex-wife and focused on my hobbies and gym and the brand new house we just built slowly turned into a pigsty. Then she tried to blame me for the mess then started the name calling when I wasn't having any of it. She asked for a divorce and I obliged because I had reached my limit.

2 years later after I moved out, I walked into the house to drop off the kids as she was running late and I couldn't find any room on any couch/chair to sit down. Every furniture was covered in dirty clothes, I asked her jokingly if this mess was also my fault and she replied that she doesn't have any help. My own sister later told me that I should go and clean up the house since my kids live there. Nope, I don't do any favors for ingrates.

It's like ive read my father's story. Same situation, except the divorce. Their house inside permanently looks like shit now with a stay at home mom. He is forbidden to discipline my halfbrothers and they have little to no consception about order. And i refuse to have kids until im in a situation where i have full authority over my family.

I recounted my walkaway a few posts back so I won't repeat it. But I can tell ya what was the trigger event. Some of the same backdrop as the original poster only say 15yrs longer in the marriage. After one trying week, I posed the question to the wife -- "So when is enough, enough?" Realize we had nearly fully grown kids, a large house, cars, yada, yada. The whole trappings of rat race suburban living. She -- "Oh there is never enough, just more."

That is when I knew the jig was up. I was looking for the exit ramp and she was preparing to merge onto the 6 lane highway of consumerism. Within 4 weeks I was out the door.

Solid write up, thanks for this. Read Atlas shrugged for the first time about 20 years ago. At the time I didn't realize that the feminine imperative and its destructive nature would make me walk away in the near future.

I had no choice, it was the only way I could remain solvent, keep my individuality and restore my peace of mind.

Your wife sounded like a real piece of work. I wonder if her ego and pride just couldn't admit to you that the house did in fact look worse since you stopped helping out. At the same time looking at it through a red pill lens I could see why she might in fact have been oblivious to your contributions.

As Rollo has written many times about the burden of performance, your wife just expected you to perform. It doesn't matter how tired you are, or if you have a temporary moment of weakness or whatever. You must perform and you deserve and get no praise.

Conclusion

Over the past quarter century in the US, in countless ways, men have been GTOW, Walking Away, setting it down, and Shrugging . This has gained big momentum in this past decade, as this loose collection of “movements” have reached critical mass. It is felt in the many realms of life, including politics, race relations, housing, the job market, government, higher education, marriage and family, and the dating scene to name several.

The consequences are all around us, and they have gone from glaring and urgent, to a full blown societal meltdown.

Exactly this.

I'd only add men who walked away are liberated, living their best single lives.

Interesting read. Ive definitely come to similar conclusions from my life experiences, even if mine were very different and ive had a very different life. When youre beat when you do good things and beat when you do bad things and beat when you do nothing, why not just do what you want? I no longer care about society or women or their made up problems. Frankly, even if I might not survive it, I welcome the inevitable collapse. A society loathes all that is good and decent and seeks to harm decent men frankly shouldn't perpetuate.
