Hi, ladies!

I’m in a tough predicament right now. I’m fresh out of college and I started a new part time job at the beginning of last month. I only work 3 full days a week, so I’ve only worked 13 days now. I was really excited to start gaining some transferable skills/experience for my future career goals (my boss knows I’m looking for opportunities in another field). I basically got two full days of training, spread out over two weeks, and have been told not to ask the woman who trained me anymore questions. I was doing well in this role with my limited knowledge.

Last week, on my 9th, 10th, and 11th days on the job, a light seemed to switch with my boss and she’s been reprimanding me/raising her voice/and speaking to me in a condescending manner. Although I’ve taken extensive notes on what I should be doing, my boss is claiming that I “never pay attention,” “have my head in the clouds,” and am “just going through the motions,” NONE of which are accurate! While I have made some mistakes, they are all fixable and I’m still trying to learn how to perform my duties, as there are a lot of moving parts and differing protocol for different situations. I cried every day after work last week because I have NEVER had any issues at previous jobs I’ve had—in fact, my work ethic is always praised and I’m always asked to train newbies and be promoted.

I’m now incredibly stressed out and uncomfortable at work. I feel like I have to walk on eggshells and don’t feel like I can be successful in this role. Her management style is incompatible with my work ethic and what I need to be successful. I’m not entirely sure when I’ll be quitting (I’m currently applying to other jobs in the field I’m hoping to get into and would prefer to not be unemployed again during these times), but I’d like some advice for how to graciously quit and hopefully avoid getting yelled at by my boss while doing so.

Thank you!
