Hi gals!

I’m needing some career advice from some strong intelligent ladies.

So basically, I’m 23. I finished college full time back in May 2019, but was missing a class so I didn’t actually graduate. I started working for a nonprofit (religious) company as a customer service rep. Aka, basically a call center jobs with a few additional tasks. I was super excited as I thought this was a great way to get my foot in the door and eventually move up into a communications or marketing role.

I love my team and my coworkers. One of them has even become one of my best friends. Anyway, when COVID hit we all transitioned into work from home and are doing that permanently now. I absolutely love working from home as it saves me 2 hours I used to be stuck in traffic.

But with COVID also came salary freezes. I had my one year anniversary last year and did not receive a raise. I decided I wanted to “level up” and finally graduate.. for real. So I finished my degree in December. I want to get a new job, but really don’t know what I want to do. For reasons I don’t want to get into... I do not want to stay with this company but instead go elsewhere.

My degree is in communication/minor in business. I have a few marketing internships under my belt but really don’t want to do marketing. I’d love to get into real estate in some capacity but not sure what that looks like- I’d want a paid role before being a commission only agent. I absolutely love fashion but don’t want to work retail. I’ve thought about sales roles... but not sure if I’d like cold calling and having to meet a quota.... I’m just feeling lost.

And to make matters MORE complicated, I’m getting jaw surgery sometime this year. Likely late summer. Sooooo I’m trying to decide- do I try and switch jobs now? Should I just stay at my current job until after I recover from surgery?

Basically I will need to be out for around 6 weeks. I literally won’t be able to talk. I haven’t told my boss this yet as it’s many months away and I’m trying to decide what to do. HELP!!!!
