I posted this on fitness but i realized here i would get a lot more of personal experience and not only scientific facts. Ill just paste what i wrote at r/fitness
Im at the typical situation where my father wont allow me to lift til Im 25+ because it can somehow affect my growth bones or idk what.
He said that I can do calisthenics (in tired of that shit cant stand it anymore, ive tried free wheights once and i fucking loved it) and even go to the gym but no lifting (meaning bench, deadlift and squat) because of those reasons.
Two things here. First one, im tired of researching in the internet and forumd because its always a two sided argument. 50% say its harmless the other 50% is like my father, tired of that bullshit. Thats why im here, what is your knowledge on this? Advice? Personal experience? Anyting is appreciated.
Second one, if i decide to start lifting (and of course if diet is in check) my appearance changes will be obvious, so how can i attribute them to other activity? Maybe machines and free wheights? Idk, because its really likely he will notice.
Thank you.
Also maybe some personal numbers are needed. 17 years old (18 in a month), 178cm
