Using TRP terminology on other subreddits or IRL has two undesired side effects.

  1. It can "out" you as a reader of TRP. Which is why we don't talk about TRP outside TRP.

  2. Worse, non-readers of TRP may start using the term, (a) possibly misusing and vulgarizing the term, or (b) making the user appear to be a reader of TRP, even if s/he isn't.

. "Cock carousel" and "creep-shaming" came up in a thread I read recently. Either it was somebody crusading for TRP incognito (thank you, but caught you), or that word got out already.

For example, "Alpha" and "beta" are already in the mainstream, and you've probably seen people misusing them for their own ends (feminist sites). I personally avoid using those words anywhere except in TRP.

[edit] Thank you to the people who contributed ("Law 38"), instead of missing the point and trying to discredit the examples.
