So I work at a large company as a paid intern. I have one coworker who is an engineer in the department I work in, he is my mentor basically and I work with him a lot. I look up to him because he's very alpha, he once told me his kill count with women was over 100, which I believe because when he says something it has always been true. I'm still trying to get rid of my beta qualities and he sometimes looks down on me so I push back. For example he calls me by "intern" rather than by my first name, which I always correct him on and tell him to call me by my name because I think it's degrading. Well Friday we were in a meeting in with our whole group and we were waiting in line for food and he purposefully cut in front of me to which I called him out on it. He said "Well someone's parent's didn't teach them any respect" to which I responded "I was taught to stand up for myself and fight for my respect", after that he backed down and got behind me. Everything was fine between us after that and he likely forgot it even happened. My question is was I out of line by saying that despite only being an intern or am I right by sticking up for myself?
