Don’t ask where my dad is through all of this because he’s absent.
I’m going to explain this in detail.
About me: recently turned 18 and have responsibilities of my own.
I was taking a nap today. My mom woke me up to tell me that my brother (22, felon and lives with me and my mom because of obvious reasons) got a job and needs my car (which my uncle from my dad’s side paid for) to go from 3pm to 11pm. Keep in mind there’s always her car for another option. But she doesn’t want anything to happen to it. This made me mad because he didn’t think about asking before putting in the application or even think about how he’d get there. Things would probably be different if he did. This is a consistent problem with him, he doesn’t learn from mistakes or think about the consequences of his actions. Me getting mad about it, which I didn’t show until I asked him his days and hours, made her mad because I’m not supposed to have a life I guess and I’m supposed to blindly give up stuff when someone in the family needs it. An argument started and she told me I wasn’t shit because I didn’t want to let him have my car for that long, and coming from your mother (always somewhat abusive, hit me to discipline when I was younger, now it’s just arguments and she might hit me in my face if she gets really mad) that hurts, a lot. I’m not just mean the the guy. When we were younger, id want to be around him SOMETIMES when he was a teen and he’d always shun me away or act like it was a chore to spend time with his little brother. Years after that, I asked him for rides to get places when my mom was busy, he’d always say no or very rarely say yes and act like it was a chore even when he had nothing else going on. Now it’s the opposite. Now she took my keys, and I told her I need them to get to school, then she said she doesn’t care what I do now. I offered to take him, and pick him up. But that’s not a option I guess because she wasn’t letting that happen. Now my keys are in her hands. Am I wrong?
Also, another question. Is anyone else in my boat (absent father, and sometimes abusive mother)? Might sound funny and I’ll even laugh at it myself, I wasn’t hugged as a child lol. If so, how do you feel it effected you til this day?
