Am I missing out by not befriending/approaching girls on my course?

You definitely should at least talk to them, it's good practice and can set things up for the future with them or their friends.

I recently took a female-dominated class mostly to practice my social skills, was one of the first people who talked to people (several girls called me "very social" for the first time in my life), made a few friends and most importantly got more comfortable just talking to women. Only asked one out, probably should have tried harder on that angle.

Why not mack the girls in your class?

It's not really shitting where you eat. Courses last maybe 3 months, then are done, so if shit goes south, it's not for too long

For classes (unless it's a 150 person lecture) I usually just talk to them to make some friends and grow the social circle. You don't want to become "that guy" in class
