context

A year ago I was a total wreck. I was interested in smoking weed and did so with some friends I knew from elementary school. Having little self respect I let those people drive over me thinking it was all fun and jokes, no problem. But eventually I started getting tired and annoyed and outright disgusted with them. I felt like an injustice had been done to me and I became angry and cut them out of my life. While I didn't want to admit it back then, I believe now that the reason I started losing weight and going to the gym was because of them and the anger I felt.

Of course with time I started thinking less and less of those people and I developed discipline. I don't even feel happy about their failures in life like I thought I would back then (though i admit i feel some satisfaction since i bring it up now in the first place).

But recently I've started feeling angry again due to what I perceive as injustice, unrelated to the ppl I've spoken about. And while this feeling only lasts for some moments, it sometimes feels like anger gives you "super powers". The thought of improving and becoming better than others who you feel have wronged you is immensely motivating.

question

But is anger reliable? Can you let that feeling empower you and let you seek satisfaction? I feel like the answer is yes, but at the same time I worry that anger by itself is an unsustainable fuel source. Very explosive but by itself it can only carry you so far

tl;dr: is anger a reliable source of motivation (by itself)?
