Go talk to the neighbor or tell your friend to slow down. Some old people are just grumpy. I lived on a dirt road growing up that the city never tended to and driving fast made it terrible. I might not agree with your neighbors approach but I agree with him on hating shit roads.

We're probably different ages so likely interpret these type situations through different lenses. What the other poster stated regarding dirt roads getting ruts and that shit being FUCKING ANNOYING in inclement weather is 100% accurate. I know your ass would probably be annoyed if you wind up getting stuck in a muddy rut your schmuck buddy created. Advice below is coming from the POV of "I don't have to beat the shit out of every idiot, some idiots can add value to my life"

First step is get your ego in check - recognize that you have a fat miserable old neighbor that can probably make your life annoying in 100% legal ways if he's bored and vindictive. He is probably lonely with no real purpose/tribe, like most middle age dudes. He also has a daughter that is fuckable?

Next, identify what you realistically want for an outcome - him to just leave you alone? To develop friendly rapport where he won't freak out when you turn your attention to his daughter? To maybe build an ally that can help pull security on your property when you're not there? These are all achievable outcomes.

Easiest way to squash things is #1 go rake/fill whatever ruts/torn up corners your friend created, smooth your driveway out, take pride in your property.

-#2 is to approach him in the next couple of days, isolate him so you are talking 1:1, this is important because if ANYBODY is around he will assume a persona, when isolated 1:1 you can break through that persona and begin building rapport. Just approach the conversation along the lines of "you thought about what he pointed out and inspected the displaced dirt, repaired the driveway and set expectations with your friends on how they drive". Walk him over to the damaged areas, ask for his insight, stroke his ego a bit (ask shit like "think this will hold until winter?" or w/e dumbass ego stroking advice seeking question that fits the context) End this conversation by THANKING him for pointing out the long term damage occurring and then tell him you want to work with him to ensure the driveway stays in good shape.

-#3 If you want to convert him to an ally/follower, over the next couple of weeks, hit him up for dumbshit like borrowing tools - landscape advice - leverage these opportunities to open him up -> convert to an ally.

Yes, you will have to control your ego and intentionally stroke his ego a bit. By taking intentional control of your emotions and controlling your interactions to achieve a specific level of rapport with this guy you can turn the situation around to the point where he is introducing you to his kid. Assuming you meet his view of "societal norms" for dating age spreads.

If you think you and your friend are doing nothing wrong just ignore him don’t escalate the situation.
