Pragmatic: Do 10 weeks of a group improv class

Risky: Drop acid and hit the town

Safe: Say "Good afternoon" as you walk past old people on the way home

Mandatory: Get off the computer

Strike up conversation with anybody, start by talking to guys and compliment their hat or whatever pops into your head first about them (their defining features if you will) everybody likes to feel good about themselves.

Next you can move a step up and start full conversations, some people are chatty and will do all the work for you but talk about something in your shared environment (damn the bus is late again this always seems to happen when I need to be somewhere important). At this point you will be a pro at chatting up people, then extend this over towards doing the exact same thing with women.

Also work on your body language, always look up, move slower, make eye contact, smile. There’s no point trying to be more social and not doing those things otherwise people won’t want to talk to you and you’ll just come across as an Autist

Edit: also if you wear glasses, get contacts or laser eye. I found since getting laser eye I’m a lot more approachable and people make more eye contact with me

All "fears" you can overcome by exploiting yourself to them. Just go, feel awkward, try to socialize, repeat. You'll get into it. Good luck.
