For context, I've been under a lot of stress lately from life and I'm somewhat exhausted. I work in public accounting and lately work has been hectic. I've also been studying for two exams (just took one) for my CPA license, and have been following a strict cutting program. Also over the last couple months my alcoholic mother has been flying off the wagon and causing a lot of drama in our family and usually whenever this happens my father and sister turn to me to "fix it" because for some reason I'm the only person my mother really responds to. This isn't a rant or search for pity I'm just giving context behind what's been causing stress these last few months. I've also been sleeping horribly these last few months and normally after I fall asleep I'll sleep for maybe 3-4 hours, wake up, fall back asleep for maybe another hour, wake up again, repeat.

I've been taking steps to reduce the stress and get my life back to where I want it to be. I reached out to my coach at work and got moved to a different client that wasn't a complete shit show. I've organized a good study plan for my last exam so I don't feel as overwhelmed by all the material I have to get through. I've continued my cut and still lift 5 days/week and hit some form of cardio every single day. I've gone down from 185 to 165lbs so far on a 5'11 frame and only have about 10 more to go. I've also taken the next 3 weeks off from work to focus on my last exam and decompress a little.

Now onto my question. I was hanging out with this girl who I'm considering for LTR. I wasn't in that great of a mood and was more quiet than normal and less energized. I've also been spending less time with her lately and pretty much never initiate contact with her as my mind is pretty much always elsewhere. She at one point asks me if something is wrong and the conversation goes like this:

Her: "Hey I've noticed you've been different lately, did I do something wrong?"

Me: "No, what do you mean?"

Her: "You're just a lot more quiet than normal and it seems like you never want to talk to me? Do you still even like me?"

Me: "If I didn't like you, I wouldn't be here with you right now."

Her: "I know I'm sorry it just seems like something is up with you and I was afraid you didn't like me anymore."

Me: "No I've just been under a lot of stress lately and am a little tired"

Her: "Well are you ok?"

Me: "I'm not going to get into it too much but I've just had to deal with a hectic work schedule, two exams, and some issues in my family life. It sucks, but I've taken some steps to fix them and things are looking good going forward."

Her: "Well I'm sorry to hear that but you're so amazing I'm sure whatever it is you'll be fine. And you know I'm always here for you"

Me: "Appreciate it"

After that I kissed her on the forehead and we hung out as usual. Everything seemed ok and she perked up a bit. At the time it felt like she was looking for some comfort so I re-assured her a bit. I'm just not sure if being honest about stress affecting me was the best move. I have been acting different and at the time, just telling her what was up and that I'm dealing with it seemed like it was the best move. What do you guys think? Did I handle this well?
