So I recently was offered a job opening in a city outside of my state. This is exactly what I was hoping for, especially in a position that I am passionate about. Up until now, I haven't had the resources to really improve myself, as in I haven't had the money to pay for a gym membership, purchase healthy food, or buy new clothes.

This being said, with my new move I was wondering if this is the perfect time for me to go into monk mode or if it is dangerous to do so. I've been thinking about the pros and cons of it.

Pros:

  • New city, new job, new identity
  • Resources to buy food, gym membership, clothes
  • Can focus on improving my skills and competencies
  • Time to get my finances in order

Cons:

  • Missing out on improving social skills
  • Being in a new place requires meeting new people
  • Possibly throw me in a rut

What do you guys think? I really want to grind for a while and make some improvements on myself but I don't want to hinder myself too much since I don't have any support out here (established friends, family, groups, etc). I was thinking of taking 3 months for myself but that may be too much.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Edit: To add in, I have a lot of room for improvement. I'm a 6'1" man at around 160 lbs. I am very skinny, so I know I have a lot of room to grow into physically. I have been studying nutrition and exercise but just haven't been able to apply that yet, so I am very excited to do so. Another point, I have some minor gaps in my teeth that I would like to fix through something such a Invisalign (the clear teeth braces/retainers). I'm not self-conscious, but I really want to improve these aspects of my life. I've also always buzzed my hair since college but I would like to grow it and then find a more mature/stylish hair cut for myself. I also plan on rebuilding my emergency fund which I have all but ran dry by being unemployed for so long. That, and also paying back my student loans top my priority from a financial standpoint. I figured I would give some clear cut goals of mine for you guys.
