Can't find a job

I have no fucking idea.. have been unemployed for 2 years now and i'm totally fucked financially wise.. I live with my mom again and i'm 27 -.-

I sent over 700 resumes before I got my current job. And I had 7 years' experience in a high end field, and had a job while I was looking. I cast a huge net, and was even open to moving to nearly any state.

The only interviews I ever got were from positions where my network hooked me up.

Crappy entry level jobs are not excepted from the real world. If your friend is a model employee at your local grocery store and has been there for two years, he is a lot more likely to be able to get you an interview than a resume and application.

But why not aim higher? Get a part time job in an office setting. Bank, law firm, medical office, accounting firm, IT company, even an apartment complex. Get hooked up with a job that actually looks respectable instead of a job 15 year olds do at the mall.

I am not sure where you live but you have to keep on trying. Walk in to the place looking decent.

Dress up even if it is for a grocery store or retail job. Make sure your hair is done well, you look clean, breath smells good, etc.

be very respectful, ask for the manager. Shake hands make eye contact, be friendly. Briefly tell them how you would like to work at this certain place, show them that you like their company for whatever reason and why you want to be apart of it.

Maybe even do some research on what their values are, how well they treat their employees and customers, if they've done anything charity wise. Show them that you've looked into the company and that you respect them or agree with their values.

Make sure you have your resume with you, even if they say theirs an online application.

You resume should be short and sweet and well written. It is extremely important to spell check! Read t over twice, then have a friend or family member read it over twice.

Have an order to your resume like maybe chronological, list your past jobs from first to last.

If you've had many jobs, only list the ones that apply most. So say you're giving a resume to the retail job, you don't have to list that you were a dog sitter or babysitter before. But if you've worked at another retail area or anything to do with customer service, keep it on there.

Depending on what age your at, you don't have to list every little achievement or thing you've done. Don't list anything from high school (like sports, honors list, etc.) just mention that you graduated high school and mention of your in a college program at the moment or if you've finished one already.

Make each resume different depending on where you are sending that resume too. At the top of a resume you sometimes write a little spiel about yourself and the job your applying for and why. Just mention the specific place and why you want this job (besides making money).

After leaving the place, wait and week and if you haven't heard from them yet, go back to the store for a follow up or call them. Just check in and ask if they have considered you. I'm sorry this is so long, I hope it helps some and Hopefully at least some of the information pertains to you. The most important aspects or, look good, be respectful, make sure your resume is spell checked, short, and sweet. Good luck!

Follow up, don't just give a resume and pray.

Pop in a week later, chat up the employees, make yourself known to the manager and ask why you haven't heard back from them yet.

I mention talking to the normal employees because whatever field you're going into, it's a small world, they can have tips and connections at another chain/location and get you a step up there. I went to one place, bs'ed with a dude while the manager went to the back and found out a place right across the street was hiring.

Be persistent unless they tell you they aren't looking for candidates. I was applying with this one phone company, never got the call for the group interview but I did pop in and call a couple times, fast forward a month and I'm just getting a replacement phone, the manager goes, "didn't you apply here? I remember you being persistent, email your resume again because some spots just opened up"

I've moved to a different major US city every year for the last 5 years with no connections or jobs lined up and the longest it took me to find one is 2 weeks, and that is refusing to work in fast food as well.

Same boat however just got a job yesterday. I like the indeed.com app personally, although I didn't get anything until I surpassed at least 80 sent applications. I finally got something as a Jimmy johns delivery driver until I can find full time work. I fucking hate it. I just graduated from university also.

Find something to do in exchange for money. This is not an "I have a job" type economy.

I'm fucking 18 and I got a job. No connections. No previous job experience. Right out of high school. The only reason why, is because I know psychology. I know how to communicate with individuals. Not through trp, I just have self wisdom at fucking 18. I'll tell you what I did. I volunteered for 4 months and in high school I worked my ass off. I did sports and got an competitive GPA. And landed job. You got to fucking work for it. Not just send resumes willy, nilly. Fucking volunteer, talk to some cuties too. Fine as 25 year old, volunteering with me, it was fun.
