Hey guys, perhaps there is a better place to ask this, but you all usually have solid advice. I'm looking for some insight on a decision I have to make soon. I'm 22 years old, living in Florida, working at a funeral home that is owned and operated by my step-grandmother (and to a lesser extent, my step-father). I'm about to get my Bachelor's in Psychology from Saint Leo University.

Once I get my Bachelor's, I'll have to choose one of two paths - pursue my Master's degree in Psychology or stick with the family business and become a funeral director. If I became a funeral director, I would make more than double what I make right now and I would possibly be able to inherit the funeral home one day. Otherwise, I will have to go to graduate school, but I will undoubtedly have to move, in which case I'll lose my well-paying job, and I have no idea how I will make ends meet. There is a third option, that I get my funeral director's license and then pursue my Master's although everyone says that if I quit school now, I will never go back. But if I went this route, at least I'd have a good job and be able to afford to go to graduate school without undertaking massive amounts of debt.

I should add that psychology is my passion, but I do enjoy the funeral business as well. I'm good with people and I could really see myself doing either one. My boss (step-grandmother) wants me to come to a decision soon, because if I choose not to stay at the funeral home, she wants to find someone she can train for the long haul (undoubtedly meaning I would be replaced).

So what do you all think? I'm just looking for some unbiased opinions and I'll be glad to post this elsewhere if this is the wrong place for it. Thanks.
