Cologne isn't a scent you wear, it's an accessory that will have affect to the outside world. Instead of some shitty all in one cologne, start your proper collection now (if you want).

Less is more. Your scents need to match the season

Fall/Winter = musk

Spring/summer = citrus

If you don't like how it smells it will NOT smell good on you.

Go to a department store and start trying different scents (don't listen to the sales person they're supposed to push certain products). Smell coffee beans or your wrist to reset your scent pallette.

Or seek small companies. I have some stuff from Italy one little mist and you can still smell it the next day after I shower. My dad taught me this too, buying unique brands of cologne that way you don't smell like everyone else.

There are also colognes for various occasions.

Example; A wedding, wear flowery citrus because it's in the "current mood" and by doing so those who smell you typically already have a positive view of you.

Important business meeting? Musk with hint of spice signifies confident leadership.

If you're looking for date cologne get musk all the way.

Spritz the wrist rub them together, rub wrists on your neck and behind your ears. NO MORE. Why? These areas all have more blood vessels allowing your body to naturally release these scents via heat. This also means they have to get close to catch a wiff. And once they catch a wiff they'll keep getting close to smell it. (This is why you go in for a hug/kiss on the cheek first date.) Cologne is an awesome tool if you know how to utilize it.

Tl;dr you want your cologne to be aloof too. And if all this is too much trouble just get Versaché.

Basically, /u/thor_away92 got it right.

In the warmer months you wear lighter fragrances with citrus in it, in winter muskier and a little heavier ones.

I am 19 aswell so I'm going to give a few perfumes that are nothing special but both you and your girls will like:

For spring and summer: Davidoff Cool Water, Armani Code Sport, Armani Acqua di Gio, Bulgari Acqua.

For fall and winter: Hermés Terre d'Hermés, Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme

For clubs and dates (basically, for when you want to impress a girl): Chanel Bleu de Chanel or Armani Code. Although Armani Code is only for fall/winter. Bleu de Chanel always works.

Hmmm, how about just smelling clean... A good old fashioned lightly scented soap is my preference. The issue with cologne for me is that although I love it, sometimes if a woman doesn't like it she REALLY doesn't like it. Also less is more, otherwise best case they tell you to go have a shower, worst case their eyes start to water.

Are you talking about cologne in particular or fragrance in general (Perfume/Eau de Perfume/Eau de Toilette/Eau de Cologne)?

It's from the fifties and costs like nine dollars but it's a unique and very masculine smell.

It's like a smokey, floral, shaving creamish, cedary smell.

I'm 19 as well and I wear CREED AVENTUS. It's good for all seasons, anytime of day and all occasions. It's my signature and I get compliments on it all the time.
