Hi TRP, I'm currently in this situation:

I liked this chick, but was interested only in casual sex about two years ago. I had to leave the city in a month and didn't manage to pick her up, but we stayed friends. We didn't have much contact afterwards, but we were pretty friendly.

A year later, I came back to the city and since a long list of friends kinda left me, I was pretty indecisive with regards to her (tried to pick her up just for the fun, she didn't want it).

Problem is, I noticed pretty late that she has some pretty serious daddy issues. And this quasi-friendship ended up with me being "that guy". And it feels as if she feels attached to this friendship. Although I tried various things, being uninterested and whatnot, this didn't end up anywhere at all.

It kinda hurts every time I go out with her. Question is: should I ignore her/distance myself from her, or just talk with her and tell her it's over and break it up just like that?

I have my uni (re-)admission exam soon, in April. I really don't wanna waste my time with this emotional BS.
