Got an internship at a hospital. my job is basically to watch. i can help with some tasks depending on the surgeon or anesthesiologist. However, a lot of the unders such as Pa’s, surgical tech and nurses often look down on me and will treat me lesser than. i don’t expect any special treatment but they often tell me to get out of the way or make comments like “he’s just here to observe don’t mind him.” when i scrub into surgery the Pa’s often tell me to move and try to block me out of vision, despite permission from the surgeon to watch. How should i handle this? i don’t want issues but i don’t want to be pushed around. my understanding so far; it’s a very hierarchal setting.
