Watch Edward Dutton talk about r vs K selection. You just found out you are K selected. Most of advice here is towards what the r selected part of human nature wants.

Briefly: r selected are like rabbits, they fuck with anyone and invest little in relationships, building a community or childrearing personally

K selected are like wolves and orcas, they are monogamous and almost always mate for life, they build very complex societies and are not focused on independence, they invest a lot in personally raising kids and they are willing to kill and die for the collective, unlike rabbits who in times of stress eat their own kids as they are all out for themselves.

So you're into LTRs, and that's fine. However, what most people fail to understand is how to get to that point. If you're too eager to enter a LTR you will miss a lot of red flags that eventually will fuck you up. LTR are the hard mode of relationships, if you think too much about the finish line you forget everything you need to do to get there.

What you need to do now that you swallowed the pill is taking the time to digest it. Increase your SMV, physically, psychologically, and intellectually. Lurk more, read the sidebar. Read it again. Practice with plates. If some seem worthy, promote to FWB. If they seem worthy, promote to LTR. HSP's guide "How to manage your bitches" is a must read (again). There is a long process to enter a rewarding LTR, and you don't want to rush it.

Always manage your commitment, especially your emotional investment. And be patient.

It is mostly because of overestimating sex. Sex can be deep emotional, spiritual thing but it also can be just an entertainment, like drinking wine. So it is meaningless to have expectations of something deep in your mind, untill it happens in reality.

You need to get over the one-itis thing but there's nothing wrong with setting your standards really high. One trick is that if you know you would never want to be married or start a family with some girl, don't go on a date with her in the first place (even if she's hot). That would probably eliminate 90% of your casual hook-ups.

You might be happier finding one or two quality girls every year or two vs some stranger from the bar every Saturday night.

Sometimes you fuck them, realize they are whores or you don't have any chemistry, or she annoys the fuck out of you. Sometimes you're better off fucking them once and you're satisfied.
