There's a lot of emphasis placed on increasing your value through learning. I think a lot of you on here would agree that the cost of going to an expensive private institution, for many people, does not have a good return-on-investment.

That brings up the topic of DIY Degrees. It would seem that Excelsior College allows one to earn an entire degree through self testing. I'm all for the learning portion of the degree. But, I'm worried it won't be recognized in a lot of places. The entire cost is approximated to be around $3000-$4000.

What are your opinions on this?
