Of course I'd care about outcome. Isn't that the point? I mean I'm in college now because the goal is to get a degree and a well paying job. In the back of my mind I'm not thinking "well its okay if I end up failing out" or something.

Isn't this kind of mentality destructive to goals, ambitions and such? How is it even possible to just not give a shit about any outcome? Sounds like not giving a shit about any outcome will lead to someone being a bum. I think the expecting a certain outcome, then experiencing failure by not getting that outcome, is what provokes change. So is outcome independence even real?
