I(18M) have started cold approaching to get out of my comfort zone and pull chicks this summer. Looks wise, I'd say I have an average face, sharp haircut and a good sense of style. I'd say my main area for improvement is fitness(I'm athletic, but super skinny) and I'm working on it. Racially, I'm a minority approaching only white girls(coincidence), though I don't think it should really matter.
I'm looking for some feedback based on my experiences this summer.
Estimated Success rate for numbers: ~7/20
- 2/7 never replied
- 1/7 I met on my second-last day on a trip to Finland. She told me to come over to fuck the next day, but I had a flight to catch
- 1/7 said she had a boyfriend when I texted her
- 1/7 said she's down to be friends, but she's not looking for a relationship when I texted her yesterday. Haven't replied to her yet
- 1/7 I went on a date with
- 1/7 was from Russia when I approached her. She gave me her Snap and we talked, but I had work for the two more days she was gonna stay for
The two girls that were most interested in me(Finland and chick I went out with) were the ones that were in closed settings where I had time to properly converse for at least 5-10 minutes, build rapport and get to know them a little bit before grabbing their numbers. I'd say I did a solid job with each interaction since I knew there was no attention span or time pressure. Unfortunately, these sorts of approaching situations are pretty rare.
All the other approaches have been out in the streets scenarios where they're walking by and I have to shoot my shot immediately. Usually in these sorts of situations, I start off by saying something like "hey excuse me, what's your name?" She'll answer(some just ignore and keep walking) and I'll say something like "I saw you walking by and just thought you were cute, you mind if I grab your number?"
I'd like to think I do a good job with my body language and tone of voice, but I can't help but feel that there's something wrong about the words I'm using to approach.
Firstly, I hate the fact that I say more or less the same generic line every time. It seems like a pretty bad opener, but I feel like I have to be direct and go for the number right away because we're in a dynamic and open setting. Because of that, I almost feel like I'm outcome dependent on getting the number.
As an aside, I feel like I should be able to develop the skill to open up and seamlessly start an unawkward conversation with any stranger I meet. I'm improving on it, but I need some tips on how to continually develop the skill.
How should I approach in these types of open and dynamic situations? Do you guys have any other advice based on my experiences to date? Currently I have a job downtown so I approach 1-3 girls daily(not many more in my age range).
