Sometimes i get confused as to whether a girl is actually interested in me or just faking interest for attention/validation. Do girls actively try to gather orbiters like this or do they just accumulate naturally when girls show initial interest then the guy is too afraid to make a move?

The way I've been able to tell so far is by making a move then getting rejected or asking for a date then blown off by a girl who seemingly showed blatant IOIs. But is there a way to tell before this so I don't have to waste any time/effort on a girl who isn't actually sexually interested?
