Dude, literally 99% of people envy you for having independence AND making good money. It's no fun to slave away in a corporate job. If you can find a job in a startup with a lot of independence and high pay, go for it. But don't fucking go into a boring corporate job. It's no fun to report to a manager and your colleagues aren't your friends, they are your competitors.

There is no social life in corporate word. You cannot speak to your co-workers like to your buddies anymore. You can't crack a joke, it will probably be misunderstood and used against you when the time is right.

Why not work less hours for an above average paycheck? Time is infinitely more worth than a dollar. You can work 5 hours a day and still make fat bank + extra 15 HOURS a week. Also I like how people talk about no benefits. Your benefit is TIME, bro.

Use those hours to be a free man and talk to people outside the work. Shit is lame, anyway. Much better to meet people outside. Start early, around 7, and finish the work around 1pm. That's it. You are infinitely better off than shmucks working 4 hours longer, a fixed schedule of 9-5.

You won’t find very satisfying social relationships within IT, I’d strongly advise you to go your own way and build up relationships outside of your working environment somehow.

Stay with the big money 100% and work on developing a social network outside of work.
