Found a few relevant posts without any real answers so I'm asking here. Why is it that a huge majority of girls that check me out are either married or in a "serious" relationship?

I'd say it's like Maslow's Hierarchy of needs. She fulfills her base needs by rounding up a provider, which fulfills the Physiological, Safety, and Love/Belonging bands.

So Esteem is a slippery one. Girls get some sense of esteem from men. Guys hitting on her, doing every random task for her, and generally fawning over her to get into her pants contributes to her esteem. This comes into play because these girls are probably at the esteem band. Something along the lines of she's provided for, so she's fishing for the esteem of being able to freely attract and fuck other guys.

Self actualization is the next level up. Ever notice how most really hot girls in their prime are also massive bitches? The bitchy attitude is self actualization for a woman. She already has all the lower bands on the hierarchy filled because, just with the prospect of sex, she can snap up a provider even if the current one dumps her on short notice and she knows this. So she's free to act like herself without many of the pretenses people usually put up.

if they're actually cheating on their LTR/husband with you it's because you have something that he is missing. usually it's strong alpha confidence because she has seen him acting like a beta bitch too much.

if you're not fucking any of these girls, the "i have a boyfriend" thing is a soft rejection. girls know that there's less drama if they tell guys that they are taken instead of telling the real reason - they're simply not attracted. even single girls will make up an imaginary boyfriend because this is such an effective way of shutting down a guy

The most obvious explanation that comes to my mind is some sort of bias. Provided that you are aware that a woman is committed, you'll probably be more observant of her iois because they are deviations, and they certainly would leave a greater impression so you remember them more.

Well, besides that it might be something regarding your frame. Some dudes have the right frame to appeal to women in a certain spot, and women who have been committed for long usually crave for the same kind of shit. Stuff their men grew to lack due to betafying.
The standard is, the men grew into confrontation avoiding partner pleasers to get the ever dwindling sex and women start craving for a man who strikes as having spine. More aggressive facial traits, deeper voice, maybe even an overly expansive (but not meek) dude.
