Hey reddit, I need some real advice right now. Here's a bit of background on me and my situation.
The people I'm interested in keep friend zoning me. I don't get it- I don't feel like I'm shooting for "out of my league," but I've gotten the same bull shit speech the past several times now.
Why is this happening? I can't get too specific publicly, but I have a very fitness intensive job that's really unique. I don't earn a ton doing it, but it's enough and my total dream job. I'm in ridiculously good shape (I have to be for the job) and I'm pretty confident with my appearance and social abilities.
I don't approach people too often- but when I do, I usually don't run into this problem. Yet here I am, and I've gotten that line at least a half dozen times in the past few months.
There's a girl I'm interested in who's in a "long distance" relationship with a guy on another continent. Her ex committed suicide, and this guy was her ex's best friend. So that much they have in common, but still- he's a world away, and she's actually considering MOVING there.
I'm done with the friend zone- but I truly value this girls friendship. She knows I'm interested, and she's stated herself she had a crush on me prior to visiting this guy and dating him. In fact, I'm going over to her house tonight for dinner with her family to hang out and such. Is this an opportunity for me to win over family members? Should I approach it nonchalantly and not really give a fuck, or more importantly, should I just cancel and not even go?
I've got a half hour to decide. Let me know.
