Japan's easy to lay brick as a foreigner. But they have a very short tolerance for foreign customs. So, like others have said to, watch out for that public display of affection.

If she agrees to go for a walk/move to a private booth/private karaoke room with you, you've pretty much sealed it barring any sort of implosion of acceptable manners.

Everything with them revolves around being polite but extremely firm.
