Your mom is dying and you need extra shifts to help her pay for chemo.

Hey Linda I know this is weird is there any way I can pick up some shifts my mom's sick and I'm trying to help her with her medical bills.

I'd say make an appointment and talk to her directly about the situation. Be 100% professional - don't say anything about rumours or about your co-workers. Absolutely do not blame her for the change in your hours. Just say that you're not getting as many shifts as you'd like and ask if there's anything you two can do together to work out the situation.

Do your best to frame the question as you two working together to sort out a problem. Again, don't blame her for doing it, or imply it was her fault or anything. Say something along the lines of how you enjoy working there and have no desire to seek other employment, but you need to pay for school and you can't do that only working a few shifts a week.

You want to present yourself here as being professional, a team player, all that good stuff. Don't give her any reason to dislike you, and instead give her reasons to sympathize with you and think you're a good worker. Maybe she can't give you more hours for some reason, but if you present yourself well she'll be more likely to give you a good reference if you have to apply for a different job.

the problem is that this store is a shit-storm full of snakes who spread rumors.

Go find another job. This isn't going to get better. If you want to meet with her, fine, but what kind of boss manages based on rumor and innuendo? A shitty one. You should be finding a way to bail, no matter what.

Next her and get a new, better job. Get the better job, file your two weeks notice, and don't accept counteroffers.

The best paid employees are people who change jobs every 2 years. Don't stick around with an employer who doesn't value you.

thats part of working retail especially if you dont have a lot of senority , they cut hours depending on season- budget.

unless you really suck at your job , but in retail she would of probably fired you already.
