I've heard that mentally smiling can soften one's features. Don't know why one would do it though. I like my stone face.

I thank my brother for my rock-like appearance. As kids we used to try to jolt the other one by jumping out of closets or screaming at the other when they were sleeping.

Now bombs can go off, gunshots can ring out, people can jump out of a dark alley and say "boo!" and I never even turn my head unless I want to.

Part of that resistance to surprise gives me a perfect stoic face most of the time, but I do smile a lot when I want to, also.

The default "angry" face isn't such a bad thing to have. I would just turn my head towards them and raise my eyebrow and smile if they asked me if I was OK.

Use it to your advantage. Make it a game. When you're on a date or you approached a girl, invite her to scare you or make you laugh. That will get her to step her own game up.

Or develop an instantaneous hysterical laughter. Usually it's contagious.
