I've read the comments in this post on TRP which offers insight on how the people who got there did what they did, but it doesn't really offer a starting point for others that want to hop on the train.

I'm 19 and a freshman in university studying to go to med school. For now, I don't believe I have a lot of marketable abilities, or rather I don't know how to market the ones I do have. The things I believe I can improve on and monetize are:

  • Coding
  • Drawing
  • Being a Fitness Trainer
  • Tutoring at my university or high schools around the area

but I know there are endless other options I can start working on now if I knew about them and where to start.

Could you guys share experiences you've had starting things up to get paid on the side? What type of things were they? What got you into them? How'd you start? What can I do to get my foot in the water there?
