For the past few months I've been studying confidence and self-esteem.
Some of the most common advice given to people is to improve their lives: work out, make money, do a job you like, set up goals and crush them, get out of the house, etc. etc.
And I absolutely see how these things can raise your self-esteem. But is this really core self-esteem? If having a hot body, money, fame determines your self-esteem, it can go away when you lose those things.
I've bought the six pillars of self-esteem. Imo, only two of the writer's pillars address core confidence: self-acceptance and assertiveness. The others are more lifestyle orientated (conscious living, self-responsibility, living purposefully and integrity).
We all read the article a few years back where a women working at a prison fucked an inmate. Guys in a prison are nothing, they've been robbed of one of the most basic things in life: your freedom. Yet women find them attractive.
One of my coworkers has an average face, is overweight and rents a small appartement in his fourties (he barely saves any money -> bad with finances). Yet he's an amazing guy and is always fucking hot women. He's really charming and confident.
When you approach a women in a club, it doesn't matter if you are a multimillionaire or a minimum-wage bum who spent all his money on some nice clothes. The only things which determines your succes are your looks and how confident you approach her (and some random varaibles determing how open she is to being approached).
So, how does one attain confidence completely unrelated to one's looks and lifestyle? I'm curious for TRP's perspective.
