One thing I've read repeatedly is that one should host parties to make themselves the centre of a social circle.

I've tried hosting parties a few times, out of 25 people I consider "friends", a maximum of 3-5 have shown up. One of the guests I confided in about the lacklustre attendance suggested I pick up Home Comforts: The Art & Science of Keeping House, so I did, and reading it, it appears more geared towards women, which I'm clearly not.

So, I figured I'd get a more masculine perspective in the RP-sphere. So, any suggestions, gents? Many thanks!
