Gents,

Ive decided that i want to go forward and study medicine after having already done an masters in engineering. Ill be the first to admit that i was socially inept for the first few years of uni and now at 24 ive developed a decent amount of self respect and have little time for petty problems.

A problem that i see is that because of this outlook on life i might actually alienate a lot of my peers who will be younger than me. I could use some advice or opinions on how to ensure that my age/previous uni experience doesn't hinder me - i.e. i don't want to be that weird older dude in halls surrounded by 18 year old students. I may be overeating to this as from my own experience i basically treated all students the same age as myself when i was a "fresher

  • Should i go back to "Halls" or try and live with other postgraduate student (same age as myself etc)?

From past experience ive nailed down a few things that i need to ensure that i do:-

  • Meet as many people as possible during freshers week
  • Join the more male dominated clubs - rugby/weightlifting (im currently a decent level of powerlifter)
  • Choose who i spend my time with a lot better than the first time (no time wasting)
  • Nail a routine and minimize my study stress so that i can have the time to do all the above.

Any contributions or opinions on things that i may have missed?

Edit - found the post i was trying to find.
