I recently got involved with a co-worker who is married (I know don't shit where you eat, however I'm moving on to a new job in a couple months). We share the same group of friends and work close together throughout the week.

Lately she was acting disinterested and I could tell things were coming to an end. Today they did. She said she felt horrible and wanted to work on her marriage. She did this all through text. Not wanting to show emotion I just agreed with her stating it was a mistake and I appreciated her honesty. She didn't like this answer and was worried things would be weird between us. I assured her they would not be to which she said she valued our friendship and still wants to hangout. At this point I just said we're good and I'll ttyl. With no intentions of doing so.

I want advice on how to handle this as we work close daily and go out with the same group of friends. Her husband never goes he's very anti-social. I plan on treating her like an acquaintance and keeping conversations short and basic. I also plan to ignore all communication attempts over text/social media.

I know inevitability she'll ask why I am being short and I don't know the best way to answer that question. I also don't know how to act around her when amongst common friends in and outside of work. I'm grateful for all advice.
