Not saying formulas always work, but in general I will:

1) start conversation by making an observation about something in a picture or bio. The more obscure the thing you are commenting on, the better. Do NOT comment on her appearance, unless she's wearing a gorilla suit.

2) aim to get 3-4 back and forths. Depending on the length of time between responses, this is a happy medium between letting her invest in you and you turning into a pen pal.

3) take the conversation off of the service. Only text to set up a date and then go silent until the date.

Also, some general pointers:

Statements are much better than questions. Don't blow up a girl's phone with constant messages.

Early on, you only text for logistics to set up in person dates.

You don't ask her how her day is, you don't send reminders that the date is coming up, you don't do much at all. You're already at a massive disadvantage as a man using OLD in general, and you need to understand its mostly a numbers game.
