It's 100% true. My dad actually helped me see this when I was 15.

One of the neighborhood gals would always tell me she hated me, to my face, even in groups. But she would come over to hang out at my place sometimes. She'd say it then, too. Sometimes she would wrestle me on the floor in my bedroom and say it to my face.

So I asked my dad WTF was going on, I wasn't trying to be hateable and he said "next time a woman tells you that more than once, just kiss her."

So I did. And she exploded with tension she had stored up, lol. Was one of my first "plates" in high school although we didn't actually bang because she was stalkerish.
