I'm pretty extroverted, so if you're shy this may not work. But my process while approaching is literally:

ooh she's hot Me: "ay what's your name?"

Girl: gives name

Me: " huh, I like that name..." proceeds to create conversation about her name or movie or book or Mt. Everest or ex-girlfriend or politics or really anything. I mean as long as it comes with strong eye contact and a borderline-cocky funnyish type of vibe, you can really talk about any topic...just try to say something different than what you imagine most guys would and fill in the silence so you're not forced to revive your self-esteem. Then I carry on the conversation and eventually tell her to add me on Snapchat because she's cute and then I tell her I've got to go. This should really only last about 3 or 4 minutes unless sparks are flying everywhere and you guys both lose track of time, in that case invite her to another location and see if there's a legitimate connection.

There are four things that happen here:

By being extremely blunt and almost arrogant in the first conversation I show her that, a) I'm not going to be the normal nice guy and I'm not scared to make moves and b) I could talk to any other girl like this because I have very high confidence and I'm not scared to flirt with a supermodel if I want.
I get to read her interest in me and if she becomes stand-offish I move on. Most girls are actually pretty conversational and even if they're not attracted to you, as long as you're being highly-confident, funny, and different/interesing they'll probably be taken by surprise in your ability to hold conversation and create stories. But if you get signs that she's not interested, whatever, cut the conversation short and still add her just for shits.
By adding her on Snapchat instead of getting her number, there's no real commitment to take into account. Snapchat is by far the most casual way to make contact rn, but surprisingly, the most personal as well. It gives a lot more options to communication and by telling her to add me, she has the choice to add me back. If she does then we'll start a streak and I'll tell her to meet me somewhere, if not, then there's no reason for me to chase her. Either way it's a win-win, if she adds me then I have a potential plate, if not then she wasn't feeling it anyways, whatever. Additionally on Snapchat you can keep contact without coming up with things to say and just send pictures, plus you can see if she's trying to ghost or not. It's just a really effective way to manage your girls.
I tell her what I think of her, and I show that I don't care what her reaction is. First of all, I make sure I always use the word "cute". The word cute sends messages of ambiguity. It's not a word of praise like calling her "hot" or "beautiful" would be, instead, it sorta puts me above her in a way. Now a lot of commenters will probably disagree with this notion, but it usually works for me because when you call someone cute, it's like they're just enough to catch your eye but not enough to give serious thought into. This also sets up a casual relationship between us, almost like a FWB sorta thing.

Now this isn't the conventional red pill approach so take heed, but it works for me. Most importantly though, talk to every attractive girl you see. On the train, at a funeral, at a club, I don't care. If a girl doesn't add me back I don't sweat it because it's not about my success rate, but the amount of girls that I actually hook up with and the amount of fun in life I have even without those girls. Talking to girls isn't some huge achievement to chase after, but just another part of everyday living. Therefore, I treat my approaches like they're inconsequential because they really are. Who cares if I stutter a bit on a word? Who cares if she walks away? Who cares if she doesn't add me back? I'll talk to another girl tomorrow and the next day and so forth. Almost all girls do add me back, but if they don't they can fuck off.
