After drinking in a bar until closing, four of us went back to the house of a friend of a friend who lived nearby. After a while of chilling in his garden his sister came home and sat with us. My friend was trying pretty hard to impress her by giving her drinks and drugs. I was keeping it much more low key by just having a few beers and no drugs as I had stuff to do the following day. With her being the only girl out of four guys (albeit one was her brother) she was getting quite a bit of attention from the other two, while I gave her nowhere near as much. She soon started asking me questions - mainly as to why I wasn't doing drugs. To which I simply replied that I didn't feel like it. We also held eye contact a few times in silence while everyone else was talking.

The conversation turned to politics and the friend who was trying to impress the girl announced that he's a feminist. Her face when he said it was almost one of disgust for about half a second before saying "That's so good, more guys should be feminists." Watch what women do, not what they say springs to mind. With everyone around me submitting to the female 'sphere,' I felt there was an opportunity for me to close given some promising earlier interaction.

I doubt I'll see this girl again, but it made me wonder how to escalate in an environment where there will be guys in immediate proximity sucking up to girls. In the aforementioned scenario I just remained silent when the topic of feminism came up. I live in London and, like most cosmopolitan cities, I imagine I will be faced with similar situations where 'nice guys' will be trying to bring themselves into the female frame, while I want to bring the female into my frame. Any advice on this? Thanks.
