In one-on-one this is a bit better since it's more chill and you have time to be more expressive. With regards to groups, I can express myself, but either sound OVER-expressive like RSDtyler with my eye movements going all over the place from improving and setting up the story on the fly, or I’m monotone because I’m describing something directly from my mind and blunt.

Today, I was having a convo with a group for this leadership group activity. I noticed that when I was being monotone and made 2-5 sentence statements, the group was being pretty dismissive (no eye contact, not active). BUT when I was expressive, I probably came off as child-like (looking up a lot to get info from my mind, saying “you know” a lot, overhyping energy, wide eyes etc.), but I was able to captivate the group and get people to engage.

Did any one have this problem? How did you go about it?
