An LTR is someone that you have long term plans with.

A long lasting fling is someone who you have seen for at least a few months but are still prepared to leave tomorrow if you wake up and just feel like it.

Is she a long lasting fling, or someone whom you have long term plans with?

If she is a long lasting fling, who cares, go tot he party, you didn't have any long term plans with her anyway, and you'll find someone new tomorrow.

If she is someone whom you have long term plans with (AKA, an LTR) then stay with her for the night.

Staying with her one night wont make her feel any better. Itll takes months/years for her to move on.

So why sacrifice a fun night he had planned for a long time just to be her tissue for a night? She has her family who also experienced that loss to grieve with. He can spend time with her after or before the party. Or she can come with if shes up for it. It would be better for her anyway.

If it was a close family member like sibling yeah I totally would stay home but this is someone she wasnt even close to.

Don’t try to comfort her. Not your job. Not your problem. Listen to me here.

But let her comfort herself by snuggling up to you. Allow her to do it. If she wants to cry, let her. Just don’t be like “everything is fine, I love you, it’s okay, you don’t need to cry.” Let her do whatever she needs to do. Be her emotional rock. Don’t push her away, yet don’t try to reassure her.

Staying home with her for one evening isn’t going to fix anything regarding her grief. You’re not helping her get over anything by staying home. Grieving takes weeks/months/years.

She can call/visit other family while you’re out. In fact, she should be comforting her parent.

She wasn’t close with her grandfather, and I assume you have never met him.

This is a massive shit test.
