Hello asktrp,
I'm here with a question about money, specifically how I should use it right now.
I have a part-time job with flexible hours but usually work about 8 hours a week which nets me with a nice sum of money each month. I have saved up a lot of this money accumulated over 2 years but it's just sitting on a bank account with a stunning 0.3% interest rate.
I have struggled actually spending the money because I come from a lower class family where my father is extremely cautious with our money (he reaps the benefits of it too).
What would be a good 'investment' for someone that is 17? I'm legally underage so that doesn't allow me to do much on actual stock markets but I was thinking more in the direction of experience investments.
With this I mean courses, books, whatever that will give me an edge later on. I have already done and am still doing a Swedish course once every other week out of personal enjoyment but I want to translate it to more. I am going to take a BJJ lesson next week, bought books about some countries and will take extra French classes in the foreseeable future too. Oh, and of course, a gym membership.
These are just some examples I'm implementing but that still leaves me with a chunk of money that's still unused. Any suggestions on how to put it to good use? Or should I just pot it up for later?
Many thanks.
