You could learn the fundamentals. The thing is, most people on the market already know them and are playing with much more information, exeperience and money than you.

If you are only looking into financial markets, start investing on low-cost index funds. After that, look into good (eg consistently beat the market) actively managed funds.

You won't probably need to do more than that to get healthy returns.

Buy low, sell high.

Seriously, diversification (above and beyond traditional mix of stock and bond funds) and low management fees are the foundations of long investing game. Rental properties have been very good to me but you need to screen for a steady supply of reliable tenants--I like areas near military bases--servicemen have a steady paycheck. International investments, precious metals, maybe even crypto round out the picture.

The most lucrative investment probably is to build a profitable business and sell it to someone/some company.

Own don't trade! The first ten thousand dollars should be in a low cost etf for example VOO. After that buy high quality stocks that you would want to own for a long time. High quality stocks are the best performers of their sectors and have the best balance sheets. Owning the best stock of a sector is much better than owning a sector etf, but you have to take the time to identify these high quality stocks. For example Barrick Gold (GOLD) is the best stock amongst the gold miners etf (GDX).

You should stay informed. CNBC's Fast Money and Mad Money with Jim Cramer are two very good show which are also available as podcasts. Start listening to the podcast everyday and in a matter of months you'll know what the markets are doing .

Also do you have any debt? If yes, try and slash that debt as quickly as possible. Follow Dave Ramsey's show/podcast to sort out your personal finances.

I would download robinhood.com and start playing around with a few stocks.

Lose a couple hundred, gain a couple hundred. Get your feet wet, learn to buy and sell. If there’s a term you don’t understand, then google it. That’s how I got into it. No formal training, just started trading a few penny stocks. Went from $50 to $700 in 2 weeks. Lost it all being an idiot, but that was my education.

Surprisingly stocktwits.com is a very fun/lighthearted way to get going. Live feeds of guys who are day trading all kinds of stuff.

Lots of good stuff on reddit if you search.
