Probably because that style of haircut is tied to military and the corporate world

It can be a very dominant-looking style. Fighters and soldiers don't have flowy long hair or emo earrings. They're taking your look in, probably automatically filing it under "brutal back to basics skinhead".
Not a bad place to be, with the women. Besides, it's such an easy and common style that you'd need some kind of badly misshapen head to ever go wrong with it.
One tip if you like - because it's so damn common, I get the feeling like it really becomes a blur for the women after they see guy #15 sporting the same exact look, and similar looking faces too. Can't tell if you're John or you're Mason or you're Corey... it's all a blur. If you can add something to how you're dressed or whatever which would make you "the guy with the...X", that might be a good idea.

Fade the sides more, leave a bit more length on top. Buzzing it all the same length just makes it look like you did it at home and has no style. If you're going to buzz all one length, you may as well shave it and go for the bald look.
