Is having a family overrated?

If you have a good wife, and your kids are healthy, it's the most rewarding thing in the world. It will bring you a level of fulfillment and happiness that no amount of buying big TV's, sleeping with random women, and going golfing with your coworkers can ever match.

If you had a bad wife, or end up getting divorce raped, it's the worse feeling in the world. If you have kids that have downs syndrome, or some shit like that, it'll be awful.

The fucked up thing is you have no real way of knowing which option you will actually get until 5-10 years into your marriage. In my mind, this is the best path forward:

focus on your job and personal success first and foremost
lift and do cardio all the time. keep your health a priority
be on the lookout for traditional non-sluts that want a family
date girls that you think you would marry and vet them constantly
if you meet a worthy girl, sign a prenup and give it a shot. if you don't find a good girl, just fuck sluts and travel.

If you go into life looking for a wife and nothing else, you're gonna end up settling with some roastie. If you go into life not caring about finding a good girl you definitely won't find her. If you focus on yourself and see what life brings you, you will be in charge. Do yo thang maeng

I enjoy my family. But I'm 40. It's a pain in the ass unless you find a woman willing to give you everything.

Obviously as we’ve read, there’s many dangers in marriage and children. But if you’re a successful man, the idea of generational wealth and seeing your family move up the socioeconomic ladder is appealing.

My grandparents came from lower class, my father made it into the middle class and has given me the tools and opportunity to reach the upper class or have my potential children reach the upper class levels.

Now I know I could have a kickass life traveling around the world as a millionaire bachelor. And it’s appealing. But so is finding a quality woman and raising children to reach further feats than I have. It’s an appealing challenge, despite (in spite of?) the risks.

I’m 29, I’m still weighing my options, the last few years I had great rotations of women, now I live with a LTR and she’s cooks and cleans and we have a great life right now together.

I used to think having a family was important about 10 years ago up until last year.

I’ve come to the conclusion it’s all biological, and I get peace of mind knowing I’m the oldest of five somebody will pass on our genes, because in three generations I will have almost as much in common with their great great grandchildren as I do genetically.

Meanwhile I get to enjoy this one gift of life we are all given with a lot less worries.
