I've had to defend my ideas against people with significantly more experience and earned respect than me at the time. The type of dude with 20+ years behind and a frame of steel.

Mostly just keeping to yourself and not getting involved in any drama or gossip. I've always been seen as the clueless quiet guy at work because I don't involve myself with anything unnecessary or things that are a waste of time.

I prefer to just be seen as a workaholic who tries to focus on his work.

Don't be autistic and avoid small talk conversations, just try and keep it to a minimum and be aware that unfortunately people will spread rumors about you or report you to HR if it means making their mediocre life a tiny bit easier.
