I'm 26, and have been weight training for about a decade now. My usual routine was to weight train 4-5 days a week over the fall and winter, and then switch over to cardio in the Spring so I would be able to lose a lot of weight by Summer. A couple months ago I started doing weight train, intense cardio, weight train, intense cardio, weight train. I have also started cutting calories to lose weight while doing this, and have lost about 30 pounds in the last maybe 5 months.

The problem- this routine just doesn't seem sustainable. After a month of doing that 5 days a week, every week, i'm just burnt out and need to start taking a couple extra days off to let my body recover. I know I should know after working out for 10 years, but is it a really dumb idea to try and lose weight while still weight training?

I also have a dog that I take on long walks 1-3 times a week, and walk a fair amount for my job if that changes anything.
